PPTC resistance is a secondary selection parameter.
Start your design by defining the required hold current and rated voltage, and apply temperature derating per the PPTC derating guide. Once these core specs are confirmed, check the cold resistance (Rmax) to calculate normal operating voltage drop and power dissipation.
If your circuit may experience repeated overcurrent events, also review post-trip resistance (R1max). Multiple tripping cycles will gradually increase PPTC resistance.
Note that two PPTCs with the same hold current can have different resistance values due to package form factor and manufacturer differences. Do not select a PPTC based only on target resistance.
